2) looove zachary levi - didnt realize he's geeky cute and talented. so i sought him out...he stars in the series Chuck and sang the theme (with Mandy Moore) song of Tangled. very nice. haha

ipod revolution

have you seen the new wave of ipods already? kept me salivating.. a bit. ipod nano is the same thin version, now with video cam and FM radio! ipod touch is now cheaper with more storage space... if ever im thinking of an upgrade, i would like to get either one. but im leaning towards ipod touch just wishing it has video and fm radio too hahaha hmm, iphone? just out of my league yet. coz i have to upgrade my mobile plan as well. in these times, i should be cost cutting. it's just tempting to add these gadgets to my wish list since most shops in hk allow installment, no interest. how about apple tv? or wdtv that still does the job? nah, gotta get my tv updated first. sigh.. so many things, so little money.

lea salonga.. your songs

lea salonga will be having a concert in PICC this december 11,12. it will be something different coz all the songs from her repertoire are all requests. they've set up a site to get the requests. you can even send in video requests! haha or just post your pictures with lea so she can keep in her album. looking back, i regret not taking any when they showed Cinderella here. i would have loved to see her on stage again. this time, singing all requested songs. i just wonder what kind of songs she'll give in to. imagine.. lea singing lady gaga's poker face or nobody by wondergirls! that's something different. hehe i will send in my request soon (via www.leayoursongs.com) --> some Kpop, Jpop too.. and land of the loving. i just love her version of this song. latest i've heard, she'll include "bayan ko" which she sang after cory's requiem mass

most of michael jackson's tunes are loved by many. the more famous, "thriller", "beat it" , "man in the mirror", "billie jean" are simply adored by fans.

of the lesser popular songs, my faves would be:

• "heal the world" -- my environment-friendly and karaoke-fave song. my take on hoping for a better world.
• "the way you make me feel" -- i loved it when it was used as a dance tune in the movie, "Centerstage"
• "wanna be startin something" -- remake by Akon
• "smooth criminal" -- =)

i may not be an avid fan.. but i know that his "thriller" music video is just creative, innovative and unique. his moves in "billie jean" simply stellared him to star status making girls swoon over him. he may be gone too soon, but we are still fortunate that he left us his music which will live on in the hearts and minds of generations from hereon.

went to kuya j's housewarming one block away from my place. i took it upon myself to bring dessert and make arrangements with the priest. this is actually the second time i contacted father midas. i felt at ease with him.. everyone does in the parish, i believe. he's the parish priest in St. Joseph's Church in central where a lot of Filipinos attend mass. he's an SVD priest - the congregation of St arnold janssen. and of course, our patron in my alma mater - holy spirit. hehehe (ayun, kaya pala... feeling close!) i have always wondered what it would be like to have a priest as a mentor. maybe, i would be closer to God? maybe i would have someone to pray for me? maybe he can give me words of wisdom when my mind is full of crap. hahaha

news of michael jackson's death still flood the www. all over , you will find the articles, videos reminiscing the life of the king of pop. as MJ once said, “I hope people will look at me also as a person and not just as a personality.” it's such a humble wish for people of great stature. once you reach a point where everyone looks up to you.. somehow you seem to lose that sense of self --- that of being just you, without the adornments of fame and fortune.

***have you noticed some of the great names in history are named michael -- jackson, jordan, schumacher, scofield. hahaha

new macbook pro...

there's a new and improved macbook in the market! the difference with what i bought: it's cheaper, it has SD slot and firewire port, battery life is improved. arghhh. why couldn't i have waited??? why does mac do this in such a short span of time?? i know the difference may not be so obvious but the fact remains that i could have gotten all this, if i only waited for a few months. i pacify myself by thinking that i wont be really using the SD and firewire port. the battery life should be fine. cheaper... uhm, lets not go into that.

news of michael jackson's death circulated all over this morning. i got mine via SMS. of course i had to double check it on the internet. true enough, the sad news is just sudden, overwhelming. im not a very big fan but i appreciate his songs. his music has really huge following.. same goes with his personal life. i guess, it will be more emo for me whenever i sing "heal the world" in karaoke. hehehe

yey!!! i got excited over this news bit even though i know i can't really be watching him in his gigs.  i missed him!  i recall first hearing "moonlight over paris" over the radio.  it was unfamiliar to me.  but i loved the song.  i could go all day, listening to his version.  that was the time when acoustic was at its peak.  i would follow him in his shows when i can, even have him sign a copy of his limited CD in greenbelt. hahaha  he may not be the most pleasing to the eyes singer (i hope he gains some weight haha) but his voice is enough to just lull me into nostalgia.  

pep.ph also reported that paolo santos will sing the theme song of judy ann and ryan's wedding special and possibly, that same song will also be used for their new sitcom, "george and cecil".

morning rush: chico and delamar's top 10

i found another way to distract myself... listening to chico and delamar's top 10.  back in pinas, i've been an avid listener, not to the extent though of sending in entries to their top 10.  on the way to work, i used to tune in to RX93.1 until 9am.  that's the time their show ends.  i remember i was listening to the car radio, then papa would change it to another station coz he says it's all talk, no music. right!  just in time when my fave segment signs in!  yeah, it's all talk coz they discuss the entries... and they're not nonsense at all!  well, it depends on their topic.  hahaha their topics range from the mundane to the deep, as chosen from among their callers.  bespren and i are what they call silent listeners, because we plainly listen to them without sending entries or joining "rushers" events.  

my very own morning rush

i couldn't forget though... one weekday morn, as usual im tuned in to RX.  they have this segment where they call people requested by their listeners and just say hi and good morning.  suddenly... my mobile rang... on the other line is... chico and delamar! huwattttt?!?!?!  all my senses were awaken!  first, im a very lazy person in the morning.  second, i was sooo worried about what to say.. in english - knowing im LIVE on the air!  hahaha and so, they said their cheerful "good morning" while i grasp for words.  i meekly said, hi and mawnin.  they said "your bestfriend asked us to call you to greet you.  she says you're not a morning person.." blah blah.  waaa i feel so starstruck too! hahaha i couldnt believe it!  i was on for a few minutes and said that they made my morning more eventful.  when i got to work, my officemates were like "is that you on air?" hahaha now, im a celebrity - for a moment.  (no) thanks to bespren! hahaha that was just amazing and a picker upper.  in one of their live shows, i even went to burger king in greenbelt and had a book signed by them.  and so now, im trying to rekindle those moments even by listening to their podcast.

ipod shuffle: 3rd generation

have you seen the latest ipod shuffle already??? i mean, the actual one? i havent yet.  it's soooo small la! smaller than your average USB, i guess.  even smaller than the AA battery!  all right, enough about size.  this tiny player is still a powerhouse with 4GB, 1GB capacity.  added bonus is a voice over - available in 14 languages- to know what song is being played.  beat that! hahaha  the controls are now located in the earphone, except for the power button.  uhm.. ergo, i cant have the option to change my earpiece unless it has the compatible controls?  then again.. another biz strategy for apple to market their own earphones for such purpose?  possible, but we'll see... in the future.  heard apple still has a lot of in store the coming weeks.. new software releases, new gadgets... the turnover is fast.  i must say though, that im still pret-ty tied to my own shuffle.  i like the color (in red), small enough for me, and does its purpose of playing music.  any upgrade, i'll pass... for now.

SO pathetic! im thinking the more popular APPLE iPod -- shuffle or nano, or something from the CREATIVE line or the minimalist SONY walkman. i want good quality, easy to use, easy to carry, something that will reflect my sense of style (nakng!) and of course, light on the pocket. guess, i'll be preparing my comparison table to decide which one.

nothing is definite. for all i know, i may be buying a digicam instead. haha

that was our performance in the annual dinner. SO lame, i know! but considering the capacity of my colleagues (haha, parang ang talented ko noh?!) that presentation required the least amount of effort. i would have wanted something a lil 'performance level', as they say. hehe but pressured with time and meeting the schedules of other people, we just cant afford to practice and meet more often. oh well, just to present 'sumthin' would be ok.

cantonese - sang by the Thais
filipino - sang by the Japanese
japanese - sang by the HongKongers
thai - sang by the Filipinos



obviously, we didnt win la!


post script: in exchange for the embarassment, we were given 1000hkd (each, asa!) and ate yumcha! yummmmy!

pinoy pride: charice pempengco

another filipino made us very proud recently. a young lass at that. 15-year-old charice pempengco. she guested in ellen DeGeneres' show (videos you can check out in youtube) dec19. how did this happen? well, ellen reportedly saw this video from youtube of charice singing in a korean variety show, star king (ala eat bulaga in pinas). in one of ellen's episode, she also featured this video in Ellen and expressed her desire to have her as a guest. and so it was.

wow. its all i can say too while watching charice's guesting. besides her all out singing performance, i was amazed. some people push their luck just to have that taste of international exposure. fortunately for charice, sheer talent and recognition from her audience, she's living her dream.

watching her videos, interviews, she strikes as a charming, energetic, bubbly girl with lots of guts, talent and confidence. she strikes me as more aggressive than her ate sarah (geronimo, well not really biological). most of her songs though are on the birit side - ranging from whitney, mariah, christina and beyonce renditions. sometimes, i feel a bit stressed out. still, not a shrieking banshee. haha oh, she reminds me of gladys reyes when she talks.

one of my fave videos of her is her guesting in star king. nice! her entrance made an impact already until the very end of her performance. making those korean hotties scream. PLUS! she got to sing with this cute guy, kyu hyun. when he opened his mouth to sing.. wow too!

the music of faith (cuneta)

i came across this version of 'come what may' - an original of air supply on fino's mp3 player. usually, the songs i just listen to are pop songs.. those that im familiar of and i like the singer. however, hearing this song for the first time was refreshing. it was 'clean and clear' for me. "come what may - faith cuneta", the display shows. it was 'clean and clear'. clean - not so much kulots, nginigs. clear - broadway-like. you know, the stuff ala lea salonga. (there goes my musicality. hahaha) inspite of the high notes, birits, she still has control to not sound like a shrieking banshee.

the song itself conveys a beautiful message and bringing it to life by faith made it more appealing. definitely, i'd like to hear more from her. i've heard before, she was rumored to be using sharon cuneta's last name to ride the latter's popularity. with her voice and a loyal following to boot, this is where faith begins.
