harry potter and the half blood prince

9:50am. i watched the first showing of harry potter 6. it was a 15-minute walk, so i was kinda confident of getting up late.. but of course.. i didnt took notice of the time.. and then, my friends were already calling me up, and i was still at home! yaiksss! i didnt wanna miss out on any scene, especially the beginning.. also, i wanted to watch the trailers.. hehehe anyways, i just did a brisk walk knowing, still i would be late. i saw a bus, and i just boarded it and alighted at the next stop. thankfully, that saved me from being really late for the movie. hehe we proceeded to our seats.. row C, 3 rows from the screen.. uhm, too near eh? right.. that's what we get from buying tickets the night before.

the movie
hmm, i really don't know what to say.. i havent read the book. so some scenes, story flow, i wasn't able to understand. i didnt get why professor snape is the half blood prince and the movie merely mentioned it once. reading the book will suffice my queries, i believe. the characters really have grown.. outgrowing harry even! hermoine is simply beautiful. ron's bigger built earned him a rightful spot in quidditch. malfoy appears more brusque than before. and harry.. i still see him as the little kid with that mark on his forehead from book 1. hehehe even so, i am biased, i am a still a fan. i can't wait for the next movie to come out! hopefully, by that time, i have read all the books. hahaha

after movie chillax
the movie lasted more than 2 hours so we had lunch in cityplaza, and i ate the cheesy tonkatsu. yum yum! we headed to pacific coffee to (finally) hold our "coffee cum wifi" experience. for the longest time.. we've been planning on doing this. go to a coffee shop, bring our notebooks and hangout. good thing, we have coupons so it's a buy 1 take 1 cold treats for us! yehey! too bad, i had to purchase my wi-fi. but all good, 20hkd for 1 whole day. hehehe we we're doing our own thing, while the kids, play around the wide area. it was a chillax moment. gotta do it next time, before the coupon expires hahaha

magic - here, there, everywhere

harry potter and the half blood prince is now showing! though i haven't completed the book, i am a fan of the movie and the story. i just love it. i love magic. (but i can't really say i'm fond of watching magicians) it brings me to a different world where endless possibilities can happen. as a kid, i enjoyed watching "okay ka, fairy ko". don't you just love ina magenta whenever she criticized the "tagalupa"?

it's happening

i AM gaining weight. i feel it. no thanks to the rice i eat in the evening, the sweets i indulge in for dessert, the in-between snacks i thought were harmless. actually, i don't mind gaining a bit. i don't want to get overboard with adding a few pounds so i SHOULD slow down. else, i wouldn't fit in my clothes, again. hahaha i recalled before, after a few months of staying here in hk, i got really bloated. as in! hahaha i gained 20lbs! whatda?!?! i know.. right?!?! my friends were surprised, i should say. mama, however, said it looks good on me. mothers! haha seriously, it came to a point that i get tired easily and my feet couldn't carry me for long walks. but most of all, my clothes just won't fit right. hahaha

what worked for me

when i finally realized how big i got, i decided to cut down my carbo intake. i ate banana and a cup of oatmeal for dinner. i jogged around Victoria park a few times. i even enrolled in fitness first. it wan't a drastic weight loss. i went through phases. i would receive comments from friends and family that 'Oh, that's already enough', or 'lose a bit more', etc. but ultimately, i know that the satisfaction of how i look, feel should come from me. what matters is being happy with oneself inspite of what others think.

if only the 'harry potter' magic can do wonders for this kind of dilemma.

natasha richardson's gone too soon

and so another casualty in this film called LIFE... i've only seen her in one movie, Parent Trap, where she played mom to lindsay lohan. pretty, elegant lady, no doubt. more to that, she's wife to liam neeson. i like the guy - i like TAKEN, i like qui-gon jinn in STAR WARS. scouring through imdb, i found that he's also in Love Actually (yeah, i remember), Michael Collins (haven't seen this), Schindler's List, to name a few.

back to the real story... natasha richardson got in skiing accident in the candian resort of mont tremblant. what seemed like a 'tumble' turned into a critical condition.  her sudden death is such a devastating news to her family, friends and to those who look up to her.  you can't control these events and just learn to accept it. more than ever, every little in life is more precious, every time spent with loved ones is more valuable.  all our actions are more driven to make each day lived to the fullest.

shopaholic morning

it's saturday.  woke up early to catch the first screening of "confessions of a shopaholic" in UA cityplaza, at 9:40am.  AM shows are cheaper at 35hkd and as the day progresses, it becomes not-so-cheap, pricing as high as 65hkd in the evening.  i liked isla fisher in "wedding crashers".  there's something natural in her brand of comedy.  i think she fits to a T as rebecca bloomwood.  her personality as isla seems apt to what her character requires.  however, there's still something off which i can't pinpoint now.  i love to shop.  can't say im a shopaholic coz money is always my issue. hahaha we each have our own sense of fulfillment, sense of high.  whatever that maybe, let's not lose ourselves and take for granted the things that really matter.

cheque this out
i applied for a new account in hsbc (mainly because i'm qualified naman).  i collected my card and along with it is my own checkbook (didn't know it's included)! huwaw!  MY VERY FIRST EVER!  hahaha!  didnt feel the need to have one since coz i think it's for those with lotsa money who are afraid to transact in cash.  hmm.. i can't wait to sign my own cheque!

my sassy girl, US remake

i didnt know that there will be a US version of this asian (taiwan, korea?) drama. i remembered i finished watching my sassy girl... everyone thought it was great, but i didnt. it felt short of what i was expecting. i got sooo irritated with the girl, how she makes kawawa the guy, to the point of over acting.. for me. hmm, does that make her all the more effective?

anyways, im not raring to see this US remake but it would be out of curiosity if i do watch it.. streaming, that is. haha

how do you forgive yourself?

this line from spiderman3 (i think) stuck in my head long after watching it. and so i asked. what are the concrete ways of actually forgiving yourself? is there really a concept like this? what is most common is that of forgive others for whatever wrong they've done, blah blah. yeah, we may have wronged ourselves -- abuse our body ? but this is more likely to happen next is that we make up by 'cleaning' up our lifestyle. seems like a quick transition.. no more 'forgiving' phase. hmm.. im not sure if i made any sense. tell me.

maybe it's better if we get to the basics of this. when should we ask forgiveness? when we feel regret over our actions? why do we need it? so we don't feel the guilt anymore? more than anything else, it gives us peace.. and the chance to move on.

my comfort food: pringles!!! love 'em!!!

the dark knight comes to hongkong

apart from the visit last halloween (thanks to a costume-fitted batman), the cast and crew of the next batman installment, The Dark Knight, is in hongkong to do some shots in the Central area. IFC2, hk's tallest building, will grace the screen along with the victoria harbour night view. there were also strict rules in letting the crew do their helicopter scenes at night because they don't want residents to be disturbed with the noise. the filmaker also requested that the other buildings lend its lights to the scene, to keep them open during filming. i wonder what happened to this request.

im going to central today. hope i bump into mr wayne. hahaha

the standard has more details here.
